# Video: humor with sales motivation

Somewhere around spring every sales team hits the same wall. The quarter is half
gone, the number is still a long way off, and the jokes get darker. That is when
I send a video.

Sales parody works because it is uncomfortably accurate. Parody takes a serious 
situation, exaggerates it, and lets you laugh at what you could not say out loud
in the forecast meeting. This one has been circulating in my own inbox for a while:

## Why I send these to the team

 * **Look at what you actually did.** Pressure makes everyone forget the wins from
   three weeks ago. Name a few.
 * **Keep your sense of humor.** A team that can laugh at the pitch can fix the 
   pitch.
 * **Help the person who is struggling.** Somebody on your team is having a rougher
   month than they are admitting. A video is a low-stakes way to say you noticed.

Watch it, send it to someone who needs a lift, and tell me your own favorite sales
